Replace PulseAudio with PipeWire
We currently install both PulseAudio and PipeWire. The default on Bookworm is to only use PipeWire and let it replace PulseAudio. That happens when the pipewire-audio
package is installed, which is a recommended package of gnome-settings-daemon
. AFAICT the only reason it's not installed in Tails is that we have pulseaudio
in config/chroot_local-packageslists/tails-common.list
.
Unless it was a deliberate decision to keep PulseAudio (which I couldn't find any trace of), I suggest we switch to the default.
When we do this change:
-
Ensure Orca still works in the GNOME session -
Ensure Orca still works in the Welcome Screen
