Antivirus to scan hazardous content

We have MAT to remove metadata and that would get rid of some crap on some file formats, but it's not its main purpose.

We have plans to include Dangerzone that converts all kind of formats to safe PDFs.

But I don't remember us discuss a regular antivirus: something that would tell you if a file in pretty much any format has a virus or not.

User research findings

During the interviews for #19472 (closed), P12 was interested in having an antivirus in Tails to check hazardous content downloaded from the Internet before moving it to her regular operating system.

Lately, I've met several journalists who use Tails mostly for that: as a safe environment in which they can open anything, research dark corners of the Internet, and evaluate suspicious files before doing their reporting elsewhere.

Detecting malware was also discussed as part of #20829.
