Enable Fractional Scaling

Problem:

  • On higher resolution displays the defaulted 200% scale feels just way too large.
  • Only two options (100% or 200%), in this case 200% is too large and 100% looks to small

My current work-around:

  • When I use Tails OS for longer amounts of time I run the following command: gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer']" and I set it to 175%.

Here are some possible solutions:

  • enable fractional scaling by default
  • add a setting that saves your monitor configuration including the command above to your persistent storage

I'm pretty surprised no one had a similar issue before.
