Improve Mac animation based on feedback from Brazil
During both #18784 (closed) and #18762 (closed), I observed 8 test participants start Tails on a Mac for the first time.
4 people out of 8 watched the animation. It worked pretty well. Congrats!
I think that we could improve it further with these few fixes, from the 4 people who watched the animation:
-
P1 thought that they needed an USB connector to plug in the USB stick.
I think that it's safer to remove it; even though I liked the joke!
-
P1 used the top-right key to power up instead of the power button.
This Mac is from 2011 and has a separate power key. It seems like some Mac keyboard have a power symbol on their top-right key, would it be too ugly to add this to the animation as well?
-
P1 and P2 were not sure about whether to short-press of long-press the Action key.
What about adding an audible chime when pressing the Alt key and keeping the Alt key pressed a little bit longer until the chime finishes?
-
The "Windows" label looks a bit weird.
I guess it still happens but I'm not sure how common this is, so maybe we should go for the more neutral "EFI Boot" for now.
Interestingly, from the 4 people who didn't watch the video:
- 1 didn't follow the instructions at all and Googled instead.
- 3 commented on preferring text instructions explicitly. They were all into their late 30s or early 40s and commented on this being maybe a generational thing.
I have footage of this and could share it with @anhdres, if you want.
