towards more community involvement to get work done and to acquire resources.
*1
Towards a development tracking and publishing more where Tails needs currently support. Using this at the same to task related fundraising.
Why?
There are many open tickets that are years old and are still on the roadmap. The core team obvious seems to be overloaded by work. Outsourcing more work to the broader Tails community will help to get more tasks done that matter to the community. Highlighting specific tasks and defining what support is needed, should result in easier receiving this support and helps the community to better organize around those tasks.
How?
Choosing tasks that either have broader popularity/feeling of importance among the community or are chosen as defined by the core team. Defining subtasks and providing some documentation on how that task could/needs to be accomplished. Sometimes this is already done, sometimes not. Having for each project at least one from the core team appointed who helps to answer questions that those working on the task having hard time to find out themselves. Maybe having a limit of 2-5 open running tasks unless the community asks for another. Setting up a zcash/monero/btc address for each task. The collected money can be used to help those working on the task, to get it done. Everything not needed goes back to the core development, or will support another autonomous working group. The chosen tasks will be introduced using existing social media channels, such as twitter, mastodon and reddit.
in short:
outsourcing of defined tasks to the broader Tails community and providing a framework for self-organizing resources that foster autonomous organization lifting weight from the shoulders of the core team.
*1 Prologue: I hate money, and we should organize towards a practice and society that finally abolishes capitalism. Still, perfection does not exist in practice.
