Fail to load any AppImage files

Unable to load any AppImage file types in Tails 5.8 Not sure if this is related to #19326 (closed) because the error message is not the same.

Some example apps: fotoxx, XNview_MP, SMplayer, Haruna, digiKam

Error message received:

Could not display "app.AppImage" There is no application installed for "AppImage application bundle" files

Unfortunately I will have to find a copy of Tails 5.7 and revert back to using that until a resolution is worked out. I did attempt the work around mentioned in #19326 (closed) but I don't see 'open in terminal' option when right clicking on the file and the error message is different regardless.

To clarify, this is with execute permission off, but when grant execute permission, there is no response at all to double clicking or choosing open. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but this is not the behavior I have seen in the past and have been using Tails for several years with AppImage files no issues.

Edit: When I check processes apps are running in the background so it appears that for some reason they are just not opening the user interface window so that is interesting.
