Remove (easier) and (safer) label from consent question
During #18762 (closed), people were asked to connect to SecureDrop from a public network.
All test participants thought that "Hiding" was more secure than "Autoconnect" in general. They related the "(easier)" and "(safer)" labels only to doing a sensitive task of blowing the whistle. None of them understood what "Hiding" really does.
I'm now convinced that these labels are harmful shortcuts, especially given the poor usability of bridges in Tails in general.
I guess removing them would actually made people take a bit more time to understand the rest of the "Hiding" label and make better security+usability decisions based on their context.
Following up on intrigeri's comment in !905 (closed):
I see a change justified by "For most people, bridges are not safer actually", which made me wonder. When reaching this conclusion, did you take into account the fact that until we have persistent entry guards, bridges are the only way to get the security benefits from entry guards?
The amount of security implications that people can properly understand from a UI is very low and I'm trying to get the language in Tor Connection closer to what people are actually able to understand.
Also, I don't think that encouraging the use of bridges as a substitute for the lack of entry guards in Tails was stated as a shared goal when we agreed on the design of the consent question. Do you think that we should rediscuss this?
If we want to provide people with the extra security of entry guards, instead of making Tor Connection more confusing, I think that we should either:
