Have an incentive to donate to Tails from Electrum in Tails

Made public from fundraising#17562:

Continuing on my quest to find a “business model” or at least more steady sources of unrestricted income.

  • Electrum being broken in Tails between March 2019 and October 2019 was pretty loud on our support channels. People found and documented workaround, which are still on the official Electrum doc: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/tails.html.
  • During in donation campaigns from 2018 and 2019, 40% of the funds raised were raised in cryptocurrencies.

All this leads me to believe that many people use Tails to trade or buy stuff with bitcoins.

We could have an incentive to donate to Tails from Electrum. As a MVP it could be a popup when starting Electrum in Tails and pointing to a dedicated bitcoin address. If this proves successful we could even consider patching Electrum to add an optional fee on each transaction.

This is on our 2020-2022 roadmap.
