Thunderbird autoconfig broken since 60.5.1

Originally created by @anonym on #16573 (Redmine)

Since moving to Thunderbird 50.5.1 (which introduces parallel autoconfig), during autoconfiguration, if the ISP fetch succeeds then the result is shown and all looks good for a second, but then a mysterious exception (TypeError: radiogroup is null) is thrown which then turns it into a failure, and we throw away the results and start protocol guessing.
