Cannot use "Laptop Mode Tools Configuration" menu entry

Originally created by @sajolida on #11074 (Redmine)

When I choose Applications → System Tools → Laptop Mode Tools Configuration, I get an error message saying “amnesia is not root. You need to run with root priviliges
Please use kdesudo, gksu or sudo/sux.”. I have an administration password set up.

Executing the corresponding command sudo /usr/sbin/lmt-config-gui gives what looks like a list of kernel modules to active/deactivate.

Is this relevant in the context of Tails? Shall we get rid of this utility? This menu entry?

Feature Branch: bugfix/11074-hide-lmt-config
