A simple but VERY helpful GUI for CRYPTSETUP.

Originally created by @Tonda on #11021 (Redmine)

Are there any plans to create a very simple UI for cryptsetup in TAILS? Currently, it is very tedious and sometimes impossible to open up an encrypted volume in TAILS. Some might not even have the technical knowledge to properly use terminal to open a container they created with a simple windows UI (Truecrypt, veracrypt, etc). The amnesic quality of TAILS makes it that much more frustrating (having to start from scratch each time). I’m not a proficient coder but I’ve seen how quickly a crude UI can be produced. If I knew how to tie the UI to cryptsetup I’d do it myself. Although what would take me days if not weeks would take a TAILS dev a few hours if that.

I strongly believe that a project that champions the use of encryption and proper opsec should make it fairly simple to use the tools they promote. It is quite strange that this has been seemingly overlooked.

The UI should be constructed along but not limited to these guidelines:

*It should limit password input to 64 characters for truecrypt/veracrypt containers.
*Allow them to specify if the container is normal or hidden.
*Allow the selection of the file or drive.
*Allow for the selection of keyfiles.

And any other cli option necessary for proper mounting in GUI form. Basically a basic version of the truecrypt/veracrypt UI.

With respect and humility,
Cheers!
