title: Monthly reports
This page could be a good place to gather HOWTO, tips, template, etc. for the monthly reports.
The month in the list corresponds to the month to be reported about, and the curator for that report. For example, the report about April in the list will be written at the beginning of May.

Preparing the Monthly report
Every month an automatic email reminder is sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The curator is solely responsible for the report, but contributors are encouraged to answer this email and stating their intent to help, and how.
You have 2 ways to work on the report:
editing in GitLab web interface
editing using Git on your computer
To initialize the wiki page for the monthly report you're working on:
- Click on the corresponding link in the "Next reports" section above.
- Follow the instructions GitLab gives you to create the new page.
- Copy and paste the template that's at the bottom of this page, without the code markers.

Build the website locally and check that it builds fine and the report renders well (e.g. no broken links that worked earlier only because we were inside GitLab).
Tweet about the report:
- "In MONTH, we worked on [...] and more: https://tails.boum.org/news/report_YEAR_MO."
- If you don't have access to our Twitter account send your text for the tweet along with your merge request for the report.
Email the simplified HTML version of the report:
To: email@example.com Cc: firstname.lastname@example.org Subject: Tails report for XXXXXXXX YYYY Reply-to: email@example.com
Do the following to compose an email in HTML in Thunderbird:
Choose open-menu.png ▸ Preferences ▸ Accounts Settings.
In the Composition & Addressing tab of your email account, select Compose messages in HTML format.
If your email client, like Thunderbird in Tails, doesn't allow you to send emails in HTML format, you can probably do so from the webmail application of your email provider.
Make sure that we already have a curator for next month, or otherwise raise the issue to Core Workers and update the list of volunteers.
